Computer glitch responsible for South Zone case number error: province

EDMONTON– The Province of Alberta says a small computer glitch is responsible for a data error that incorrectly listed the updated COVID-19 numbers for today in the South Zone.

“We identified a small glitch in the posting of today’s COVID-19 aggregate data, which meant that some of the information displayed as April 24. This has now been fixed and data is now consistently reported for today’s update. We apologize for the error,” said Zoe Cooper communications director, health, for the Government of Alberta.

According to new data updated by the province, the South Zone currently has 510 cases, which makes up 12 per cent of the total case count.

In Brooks, numbers reached 450 active cases. The number of deaths remains unchanged at two.

In Medicine Hat, there are two new confirmed cases bringing the city’s total number of cases to 25. Fourteen are active, 11 are listed as recovered.

The County of Newell has five active cases.

In Cypress County, they are reporting eight cases of COVID-19, three active, five recovered.

The County of Forty Mile and Municipal District of Taber each have two confirmed cases both listed as recovered.

The City of Lethbridge has 12 active cases, four listed as active and eight recovered. Lethbridge County has one recorded active case.

The province announced a total of 216 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday, bringing the total number of cases to 4233. A total of 1,471 are deemed recovered.
