MEDICINE HAT, AB -Many businesses have gone online over the past few weeks due to COVID-19 public health measures.

Churches have been able to continue to spread their message online as well.

Meaning, families and residents are still able to celebrate the Easter season virtually weekend.

Fifth Avenue United Church Reverend Dave Pollard has been streaming their services on Facebook live.

That’s also the plan for Easter Sunday at 10 AM.

Pollard says they’ve been online for the last couple weeks.

Services include the reverend, music director, and one tech person in the church.

For Sunday, they’ll have recorded music from choir members that will play on the live stream as well.

He encourages residents to light a candle of hope this weekend.

And reminds families to enjoy their Easter, but to do so with the people they live with.

“Light candles in their front windows to let folks know that there’s still light and there’s still hope in the world. Our congregation has been doing that and we encourage all Hatters to do the same to let the lights in their home shine out into the world when we can’t physically be out in the world, we can let the lights shine a little bit.”

Holy Family Parish and St. Patrick’s Parish in Medicine Hat will be live streaming on Facebook live for Good Friday, Easter Vigil on Saturday, and Easter Sunday.

Their live stream will be through the Calgary Diocese.

Bridge Church will also be live streaming their Easter service on Sunday.

St. John’s Presbyterian Church is sending out an email offering on Good Friday and will have a recorded mass on its website for Easter Sunday.
