Driver training temporarily suspended

Mar 27, 2020 | 11:54 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB -Given Alberta Health and government’s recommendations for physical distancing, driver training has also been temporarily suspended.

Driver’s Edge in Medicine Hat says their online classroom option is still available.

Their office will be closed but they will be monitoring e-mails and phone calls from home.

Their website says all road tests in Alberta have been suspended until April 20, 2020, at the earliest.

Drivers Edge owner Mona Delaney says when you’re sitting in a car, you are obviously close to each other.

“You’re all touching the same things constantly and I think the risk right now under the current climate with COVID-19 is just way too high to put any of my employees at risk and our students as well right, it’s just for the health and safety of everybody,” Delaney said.

Meantime, Safety Connections is also temporarily closed to minimize the spread of COVID-19 according to their website.

They will still receive phone calls and messages during this time.

But all safety training, driver training, and government-funded programs will cease until further notice and they anticipate re-opening for training in mid-April.
