VIDEO: Running track completion closes chapter on Hat High’s modernization project
MEDICINE HAT, AB — With a new decade, comes the beginning of a new era for the Mohawks and Kwahommies at Medicine Hat High School.
After years of on-and-off construction, the final ribbon has been cut on its multi-million dollar modernization project for the athletic department. The last remaining piece, the running track, is now fully operational, creating all sorts of opportunities for students and staff at the school.
The track, which literally hangs off the south-east side of the school near the bus drop-off area, circumnavigates the double-length gymnasium from above. It runs alongside a sizable strip of artificial turf used for cross-fit, golf, archery, and wrestling practice.
The idea is to offer a limitless experience for students-athletes who attend Hat High. A student-athlete can practice any sport the school offers — from football to volleyball, baseball, track & field, and beyond.
