MEDICINE HAT, AB -Over $20,000 has been donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Medicine Hat today.

20/20 Vision Care wanted to kick off the new year by giving back to the community.

Their fundraising included selling raffle tickets for signed jerseys from local athletes, they donated the money their customers saved from the store’s 20/20 sale last week, and a local McDonalds came in to sell coffee and muffins at their store.

A total of $21,703 was raised.

20/20 Vision Co-owner Jim Stewart says, “We picked Ronald McDonald House because one of our staff members spent 8 months in Edmonton at a Ronald McDonald House so it’s near and dear to our hearts. And we saw what benefits she got out of it and if we can benefit the people of Medicine Hat and the families.”

“This community has rallied around the Ronald McDonald House so immensely and it has blown us out of the water. The generosity and kindness in this community are just unbelievable. I’m so grateful to be a part of it,” according to Cassi Hider Fund Development Coordinator Ronald McDonald House Charities.

She says the opening of the house is set for the spring of this year.

Work is currently being done to the interior.
