Marie Lust of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the age of 83 years, beloved wife of the late Arthur Lust. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Frances Taylor of Edmonton, Wayne Lust and his wife Bogusia and Patricia Lust all of Medicine Hat; Fran’s children, David Munroe and his wife Julie and their sons, William and Andrew; Michael Munroe; Wayne & Bogusia’s children Derek Lust and his wife Stacey; Andrew Lust and Joshua Lust; one sister-in-law Lorna Earl as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Lust on September 8, 2007; her parents, Violet and Ludwig Bischke; one brother Jack Bischke. Marie was born on July 9, 1933 in Medicine Hat where she was raised. She taught school at Ranier, Bassano and Cypress View where she met Arthur. They were married February 19, 1955 in Medicine Hat and then moved to the farm in the Robinson district. Marie was treasured by her family for her kindness, patience and independence. She passed onto them her curiosity, a lifelong love of learning and developing new skills. She could do anything she made up her mind to do. She was a teacher, and after she was married worked hard on the farm. When she retired, she went to the college, where she took many different classes and learned to love computers before they were cool. She taught herself carpentry, and designed and built furniture and cabinets. She could never resist a challenge, and loved to try new things, which she passed on to all of her descendants. Marie loved sewing and crafts, reading, flowers, birds and gardening. Above all, she enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She lived with humour and grace, and was a shining example for her family. The funeral service will be held in Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church (476 4th) Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Pollard officiating. A private interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery.
