Michael Thome

1929 ~ 2017

It is with sadness that the family of Michael Peter Thome announce his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, Medicine Hat on Friday, March 24, 2017, at the age of 87 years. Mike was born and raised on the family farm and went to school in Fox Valley, SK. He married Lena “Lynn” Gutfriend in Medicine Hat in 1956. Mike loved the family farm and worked there until his retirement. He had a great sense of humour and was very soft hearted towards his family and friends. Mike enjoyed all family events and occasions. His memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of his children, Debbie Thome (Gene Wagman), Pam (Wayne†) Lornson, Kelly (Debbie) Thome, Kevin (Twila) Thome, Kim (Laurie) Thome; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, grand- puppies; sisters, Betty Renwick and Rose Sitter. Mike was predeceased by his parents, six brothers and three sisters. The family wish to thank all the wonderful staff at River Ridge (Masterpiece). To them Mike was their “Shining Star”. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father Philip Le Celebrant.
