May 26, 1929 ~ April 27, 2017
Lorne Douglas Wiley died peacefully just weeks before his 88th birthday and his 65th wedding anniversary to his beloved wife Agnes. He was sadly predeceased by his daughter, Kathy (Tim McCashin) in 1994 and brother Malcolm in 2015. He is survived by Agnes, son Keith (Jakalin MacGregor), daughter Jane (Jason Foster), adopted daughter Michele Kelly (Carolyn Grogan), sisters Leora Peacock, Janet Walter, Marian Gallant (Ozzie), brother Hugh (Joanne) and grandchildren Kate Hanes, Amanda MacGregor Ladner, Morghain Gibbons, Clair McCashin, Andrew MacGregor, Neale Wiley, Faith Wiley, Linden Gibbons, Camille Wiley and Gillian Wiley. Adored by his family and admired by many friends and colleagues, he will be profoundly missed. Lorne taught in Medicine Hat for over 30 years. He lived a rich life engaging in politics, gardening, volunteering, curling, square dancing, fine woodworking and bridge. There was nothing Lorne couldn’t fix. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Riverview Care Centre for their loving and professional care in his last years. Their devotion to supporting his quality of life and health was outstanding. A celebration of Lorne’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street SW., Medicine Hat on Friday, May 5, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.
