Dennis Dale Lanz passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the age of 64 years, beloved husband of Sharon Lanz of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children Michael Lanz, Clifford Gosnell, Heather (Harold) Koboah, Sandra Lanz, “adopted” daughter Trippy (Kerri Kelly), Adam Myrick, Terri (Royce) Dickson and Lisa Rodgerson (Brent Ashford); his grandchildren, James, Joyce, Gregory, Shane, Mykla, Brandy and Kyle; five great grandchildren, two sisters, Lorraine Hirning and Linda (Mike) Lawrence; his mother-in-law Alice Ross as well as numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Jim McCaig; his ex-wife Leona, one niece Coralee and his dog Midnight.
Dennis was born on November 18, 1952 in Medicine Hat. He grew up on his family farm with his sister Linda and parents Jim and Mary McCaig before marrying and having his twins Michael and Clifford. He then remarried and raised his daughters Heather and Sandra. Dennis spent his career as a firefighter at CFB Suffield until his retirement. He met the love of his life Sharon whom he married July 8, 2006 and spent the remainder of his life with. He accepted Sharon’s children as his own and made great memories travelling to Nova Scotia to visit them. Dennis was blessed to find out he had another biological sister, Lorraine in 2013. Dennis was a man of humor, always making those around him laugh. He loved to spend time camping with Sharon at Cavan Lake, working around his yard (or his daughters yard), going for coffee with his good friends; especially Bob and Wayne, and spending time with his family. A come and go memorial service will be held on July 21st, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Dennis’ daughters’ home at 125 Stone Crescent SE Medicine Hat.
