Mrs. Edith “Marie” Clish passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2017 in Medicine Hat, AB at the age of 95 years. She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Frank; three granddaughters, Michelle (Ryan) Butchart, Shannon (Sean) Welsh and Darcee (Curtis) Eremenko; six great-grandchildren, Jack, Owen, Abigail, Jonathan, Dillon and Charlie; and dear friends, Brian and Lana Butchart, all of Medicine Hat. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Bud; her parents, Gratia and Howard Perkins; brothers, Guy, Gardiner, Walter, Maxwell and Ted; sister, Gertrude; and daughter-in-law, Evelyn. Marie was born in Bear River East, NS, where she spent her early years. She later lived in Truro, NS; Moncton, NB; Grostenquin, France; Edmonton, Grande Prairie and Medicine Hat, AB. Marie always looked after herself and her home with great care, and enjoyed good health well into her nineties. She had fond memories of her working years at Jack and Jill in Westmount Shopping Centre in Edmonton. Favorite pastimes included crocheting, playing Scrabble and Solitaire and spending time outside in her yard. Those who knew Marie saw that she found great joy in being with her family; her eyes lit up at the sight of visitors, especially those with an “ice cap” in hand. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, and Marie’s ashes will be interred at a later date alongside those of her late husband in Truro, NS. A family time of remembrance was held in Medicine Hat. The family would like to thank the health care staff at Chinook Village, Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and the Carmel Hospice – St Joseph’s Home. Memorial gifts in Marie’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Marie Clish.
