WILLIAM (BILL) SPENCER COFFEY 1952 – 2017
It’s music to me
We are sad to announce the passing of Bill Coffey on December 14, 2017. Bill will be missed by his brothers: Bob (Deanna) of Red Deer, Glen (Candie) of High River, his sister Jeanne Brummund (Bill) of Keremeos,B.C., and his nephews Jay and Derek Coffey. Bill played with several bands in both Brooks and Medicine Hat. He will be missed by his close friends in the music and dart communities of Medicine Hat, especially Billy Jones, Brian Bowery, Jocelyn Hodel and Ali Sellin who were like family to him. Others will remember Bill from his years in the Brooks Horticultural Station as a shipper-receiver and safety officer. He was also involved with the computerized weather data collection system, which led to his attending Medicine Hat College where he completed the computer technician program. After graduation he worked at Hat Computers, then Memory Lane Computers, and finally with Prairie Rose School Division, the job he held until his retirement. He was involved with the initial computer networking of the schools. Bill was predeceased by his parents James Earl and Helen Victoria. Bill will be remembered for his passion of collecting vintage Fender Amps. As we all know, he could easily be talked into collecting other brands as well. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held in the spring. Once the date is selected we will let everyone know.
Every song becomes a memory.
