October 20, 1930 ~ EDMOND MAUCH ~ November 18, 2017
Edmond Mauch, beloved husband of Lorraine Mauch for 66 years, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the age of 87. Ed also leaves to cherish his memory Myrl (Peggie) Mauch, Jan (Robert) Olechowski, and Rodney (Diana) Mauch. He is re-united with his son Jason Mauch, who passed away in 2006. His legacy includes his grandchildren Shawn Mauch, Tracy Mauch, Natasha Olechowski (Camilo Lopez), Justin Olechowski, Mavreen (Wayne) Anderson, Tara (John) Greene, Tyson Mauch (Allegra Tingley) and great grandchildren Kade Anderson, Tyrell Anderson, Aleasha Anderson, and Oliver Lopez. Ed was born, raised, and educated in the Hilda area. He lived in Hilda for over 45 years and was very active in the Hilda Community until his retirement to Medicine Hat. He married Lorraine in 1951, and they spent 66 years together as best friends and partners. Even though Ed worked as an Operator/Manager in the gas and oil industry until his retirement, he loved farming and always did that as well. They had land in Brooks, Hilda, and the St. Lina area, raised cattle and sometimes chickens, and had a hog operation for many years. Ed really loved living in Hilda and was very involved in the community. He coached Little League and Ladies Baseball teams and loved going to the sports days and getting to know the players and their families. Ed was a Volunteer Firefighter for years in Hilda, was instrumental in getting the Hilda Water Co-Op developed, and was a Board Member for Hilda and Community Association and Medicine Hat School District #4 for many years. He liked hunting and making sausage, enjoyed dancing, and loved playing cards and crib. Ed had been dealing with Alzheimer’s for many years, but continued to have as active a life as possible. A Memorial service will be held in Victory Lutheran Church (2793 Southview Drive SE) on Friday, December 29, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. James C. Bredeson and Diaconal Minister Lila deWaal co-officiating. Memorial donations in Ed’s memory can be made to the Jason Mauch Memorial Fund at Community Foundation of Medicine Hat and Southeastern Alberta, Rm # 104, 430 6 Ave SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 2S8 – which supports the Art Program at CORE Association; or to the Hilda and Community Association for the Fire Disaster Fund at Box 59 Hilda, AB T0J 1R0.
