August 19, 1927 ~ February 11, 2018
It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Katherine Davis, beloved wife of 64 years to Lawrence ‘Al’ Davis, announce her passing at the Bow Island Health Centre, Bow Island, on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at the age of 90 years. Along with Al, left to cherish Katherine’s memory are her children; Dwane (Janice), Anthony “Tony’ (Heather) and their sons, Richard ‘Rick’ and Robert ‘Rob’, Robert ‘Bob’ (Gracie) and their children, Ronald ‘Ron’, Tania and Jodie, Lawrence ‘Larry’ and his daughter, Nicole, Johan ‘Joann’ De Jong and her children, Dean, Lola and Terri-Lynn, Gordon (Christine) and his children, Curtis and Jennifer-Lynn, Theresa (Stephen) Van Leeuwen and their children, Katherine (Katie) and William and her daughter-in-law, Lynn Davis; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence (Lucette) Kerner, Antone ‘Tony’ (Gail) Kerner Jr. and Henry (Alda) Kerner; sister-in-law, Emilia ‘Emma’ Kerner as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Antone and Magdalena Kerner; daughter-in-law, Theresa ‘Teri’ Davis; son-in-law, Kevin Sheriden; five brothers and four sisters. Kathy was born in Foremost, Alberta, raised on the family farm in the County of 40 Mile and attended school in the Foremost district. She married the love of her life, Lawrence ‘Al’ Davis on November 14, 1953, in Bow Island. Kathy was a long time member of the Catholic Women’s League and was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mentor to many youngsters. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and gardening as well as watching curling. Kathy had a great sense of humour and you never knew when she would play a joke on you! She achieved so much in her life that it is hard to pick one over the other; she will be dearly missed. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to Vigil Prayers and again one hour prior to the Funeral Mass. Vigil Prayers will be recited at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 1101 – 1 Street East, Bow Island, on Monday, February 19, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Bow Island, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., with Father Marino Infante celebrant. Memorial donations in Katherine’s name may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #124, 430 – 6 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 2S8; Bow Island & District Health Foundation directed to Palliative Care, P.O.
