July 24, 1928 ~ February 16, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Henry Anthony Wickenheiser, beloved husband of Daisy, announce his peaceful passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the age of 89 years. Henry will be greatly missed by his wife, Daisy of 59 years; his children, Blaine (Les) Wickenheiser of Hays, Grace (Eric) Hansen of Dunmore, Ryan Wickenheiser of Sylvan Lake, Kathy Villemaire of Medicine Hat, Michelle Melnychuk (Rob) of Rolling Hills, Barb Wickenheiser (Roger) of Medicine Hat; 19 grandchildren as well as 23 great-grandchildren. Henry was pre-deceased by twin granddaughters, Jenna and Abbey; parents, Michael and Grace Wickenheiser; 12 siblings, numerous brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Henry was born in Masefield, SK., on July 24, 1928. He married Daisy Mae Crowson on July 7m 1958 in Vauxhall and they began their lives together farming in Hays. After 39 years of farming they retired to Taber. Henry spent his retirement gardening and volunteering for the church, the extended care and the food bank. In July 2017 they moved to Medicine Hat. Henry’s quick humour and gentle nature will be greatly missed by all who new and loved him. Vigil Prayers will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father Philip Le celebrant. The Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
