KUNZ, Mary— August 21, 1918 – April 18, 2018
Mary Anne Kunz of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Kasper Kunz, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 18, at the age of 99 years. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Janice (Cliff) Hartman of Calgary, Alberta, Margaret (Jim) Adamson of Seagrave, Ontario and Jim (Annette) Kunz of Calgary; eight grandchildren, Greg (Carolyn) Hartman, Michelle (Rick) Ravanello, Daniel (Cindy) Adamson, Sarah Adamson, Kayla Kunz, Nathan Kunz, Nicole (Derek) Fandrick and Jaclyne Kunz; and seven great grandchildren, one sister Cecile Hunt of Sarnia, Ontario and one brother-in-law John Kunz of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Marianne Buscholl; her husband Kasper on May 10, 1991; one son Larry on March 28, 2002; four sisters Elizabeth Bachmeier, Rose Buscholl, Sr. Florentine, Matilda Schill, and her brother Frank Buscholl.
Kasper and Mary farmed in the Richmound, Saskatchewan area for many years and retired to Medicine Hat in 1972. They periodically travelled with friends and visited such places as Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, and the Canadian Maritimes. They also enjoyed bowling and dancing. Mary loved to garden (especially her flowers), read, play cards, bake, cook; and made many afghans and quilts in her younger years. She was a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League.
The family would like to thank the staff at Meadow Ridge Seniors Village for the excellent care, and gentle kindness, she received throughout her stay especially in her final hours.
Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 – 10:55 a.m. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday May 17th at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in the Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road S.E.) on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Philip Le celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB (Canadian National Institution of the Blind) 1011A St. N.E., Calgary, AB.
