Richard “Rick” Alan Franz of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the age of 55 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Elfriede Franz; his brother, Gary (Kim) Franz of Medicine Hat and their children, Korissa (Mike) Anderson and their children Anson and Wade, Taylor Franz, Lacey Franz and McKenzie Franz; his sister, Christine (Jason) Prokosch of Medicine Hat and their children, Evie Prokosch, Jasmine Prokosch and Milo Prokosch. He was predeceased by his father, Helmut Franz and his grandparents, Gustav and Berta Wahl; Albert and Lydia Franz. Rick was born on January 5, 1963 in Calgary and raised in Medicine Hat. He worked at the Kinsmen Training Centre and Redi Enterprises and once he retired he continued to volunteer at various places. Rick’s family would like to thank all the special people who worked with him over the years. You all made it possible for Rick to have an independent and interesting life. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Those who wish to attend the interment service are invited to meet at the cemetery gate at 1:45 p.m. The funeral service will follow at Victory Lutheran Church (2793 Southview Drive SE) at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. James C. Bredeson officiating. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the C.O.R.E. Association, 412 3rd Street SE, Medicine Hat, T1A 0H1.
