Esther Roth of Medicine Hat passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018, at the age of 95 years, beloved of wife of the late Emanuel Roth. She is survived by her two sisters Helen Turner, Evelyn (Bill) Trieber and her sons and daughter, Melvin (Gloria) Roth, Laverne (Rita) Roth, Sharon Roth (Scott Godsoe). She is also survived by five grandchildren – Denise (Kelly) Worobetz, Darcy (Kim) Roth, Rena Roth (Dale Williamson), Ryan Roth (Teri Yaroschak-Roth), Roxy Roth (Dan Murray) and eight great grandchildren – Tia Worobetz, Peyton Worobetz (Brodie Beckett), Curtis Roth, Cassie Roth, Cordena (Josh) Bingham, Jesse Wuerfel, Colton Wuerfel, Sierra Roth, Zach Roth. She also has four great-great grandchildren: Ryley Worobetz, Lukas Worobetz, Kyson Bingham and Wyatt Beckett. Esther is predeceased by her beloved husband, Emanuel, her parents Reinhold and Charlotte Gomke and her sisters & brothers – William Gomke, Baby Gomke, Margaret March, Hilda Plotsky, Edwin Gomke, Olga Roth, Clarence Gomke, Alice Mauch. Esther Roth, passed away peacefully on 3 Aug 2018 at St. Josephs Home at the age of 95 years. Esther was born on 2 December 1922 in Hilda, Alberta, where she grew up. She met Emanuel Roth and was married on 14 October 1941. Esther started her married life living on the farm in the Hilda area where Mel was born. Later, they moved to their second homestead (Bucholtz place in Hilda) where Laverne and Sharon were raised. They farmed in Hilda area from 1941 to 1967 when she semi-retired and worked at the Cypress View Lodge and Travel Lodge. Esther enjoyed working in her garden in Crescent Heights, RV camping with the Club, travelling including a couple of trips to Europe and the Phillipines, attending Roth & Gomke family reunions, bowling and joining friends dancing every Saturday night. In later years, she enjoyed frequent gatherings with her siblings to play cards and enjoyed many visits back to the farm. When she moved to her condo, she loved to play pool twice a week with her Condo friends. As the family grew she enjoyed them coming home for visits and camping. Esther loved to be outdoors and especially camping and fishing. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, doing puzzles and shuffleboard. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:25 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the Victory Lutheran Church (2793 Southview Drive SE) on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Lila deWaal and Rev. James C. Bredeson co-officiating. A private family interment will take place in the Hillside Cemetery . Memorial gifts in Esther’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Southern Alberta 340 A Maple Ave SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 7L5 or the charity of one’s choice. Esther will be missed by her sisters, sons and daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grand children. After a long full life, it is time for Esther to go to her mansion on the hillside to rest in peace!
