Beloved June Margaret Edna (Howitt) Roth (1929 – 2018) passed away September 19, after a precious morning surrounded by family and good friends. Her life overflowed with love and service. She was a graduate of the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing (1952), and the University of Lethbridge (1991). Many in our community remember her as an Instructor at the Medicine Hat General Hospital School of Nursing, her service through the Victorian Order of Nurses for Canada, and finally with the Medicine Hat Health Unit, where she was a respected colleague and much-loved community health nurse, known for her particular empathy with teenagers. In 1993 she was honored to receive an award recognizing her service from the Alberta Association of Registered Nurses. She leaves behind many family and dear friends including her husband of 62 years Melvin, her four children Ron (Patty), Wes (Tannis), Carla (Merritt) and Wynne (Martin). She was pre-deceased by a son, Paul. June is survived by her brother Jim Howitt and his wife Pat of Milk River. She also leaves six grandchildren: Tylor, Melissa (John), Kelsie (Cole), Jillian, Alexa, and Emerson, and four great grandchildren: Brayden, Asher, Austin, and Bennett. A celebration of June’s life will be held at ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 515 Sprague Way S.E. Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading June Roth.
