“We are born from a quiet sleep and we die to a calm awaking.” – Zhuangzi
Elaine Earla Adams of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta on Friday, November 2, 2018, at the age of 69 years. Elaine leaves to cherish her memory: mother, Erma; siblings, Valerie (Jim), Clayton (Diane) and Nancy (Wayne) as well as one niece and several nephews. Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Konstantyn in 2006. Elaine was born in Summerside, PEI., on October 26, 1949 to Erma (nee Bryanton) and the late Delmar Adams. She was raised near the ocean on PEI and lived a life filled with many happy memories… from being crowned Miss Kensington in 1967, playing piano and percussion in a brass band, being voted most classy dresser in school and onto completing an Advanced Travel program in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1973, she married Konstantyn Wenc, a handsome charismatic man with intelligence, wit and a spirit of adventure to match Elaine’s. She had a successful 35 year career in the travel industry, owned several agencies, travelled extensively and was a remarkable lady to meet. In every conceivable way, Elaine was a fully alive person, extremely organized with a keen attention to detail, physically beautiful, creative with a flare, a lover of art, theatre, music and respectful to all she encountered. Fearlessly different, Elaine’s resolute nature allowed her to speak her mind, clear her feelings and let the truth be known. She was a spiritual woman who experienced love through family, friends and the generosity she poured out to others. Her memory will live on in the lives of all those who had the privilege of meeting her. It’s fair to say that Elaine was a beautiful soul whose beauty, grace, style, strength and dignity shall not be forgotten… forever missed, but never lost to us. She was God’s gift to us and now her kind soul will get the abiding peace she so richly deserves. Special thanks to Dr. J. Foley. Dr. M. Wong and the Carmel Hospice for their exemplary care and support. In honouring Elaine’s wishes, her life will be silently remembered without the proceedings of a formal funeral.
