Mr. John Michael Lerner of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Valerie “Val” Lerner, passed away on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 at the age of 61 years. John also leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Holly (Michael) Pahl; two grandchildren, Dekkar and Evie; two brothers, David (Carla) Lerner and Wayne (Ruth) Lerner; five sisters, Darleen Berreth, Shirley (Terry Stubert) Klaudt, Elaine Harink, Jane (Jerry) Covey, and Ruth Sehn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Francis Lerner; and his brother Ronald Lerner. John worked for the City of Medicine Hat Parks Department for 35 years. He enjoyed hockey, baseball, curling, and playing pool. He was an avid Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. John loved listening to music. His favorite bands were Abba and The Beach Boys. John was a kind man of few words. He loved his job working at the Parks Department and his favorite tree was the Linden Tree. He was known as the tree historian. The Funeral Service will be held at, SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Monday, December 10th, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Please dress casual as per John’s wishes. Final resting of John’s cremated remains will be done in May 2019.
