He will also be remembered by the many friends whose lives he touched throughout the years. Following high school graduation, Lorne attended college in Montreal studying Radio and Television Technology and then moved to Winnipeg, MB where he met and married Alice in 1957. The family moved to Calgary in 1971 and after a brief stint back in Winnipeg, returned to Calgary where Lorne took early retirement. An avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and curler, Lorne enjoyed the outdoors. He liked working on small woodworking projects and tending his vegetable and flower gardens. Both Lorne and Alice enjoyed spending the winter months as snow birds in Pahrump, Nevada. It was there that they met many of their close friends who resided in southeastern AB, and was in large part why Lorne elected to move to Redcliff, AB after Alice passed away. He was a loyal friend with a great sense of humor and a man of faith who spent countless hours volunteering with the Knights of Columbus and other organizations. The family would like to thank Dr. Monty, Nurse Robert and all the staff at the Sunnyside Care Centre and Meadowlands for their kindness and care of Lorne over the last several years. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 2 Ave NE, Medicine Hat, AB. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to www.alzheimercalgary.ca or doing an hour or two of volunteering for a charity of your choice in his memory.
