Jean Alice Anderst of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the age of 88 years, beloved wife of the late Ben Anderst. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Coleen (Vic) Klassen of Vernon, BC and Grant (Melanie) Anderst of Medicine Hat; two grandchildren, Vanessa (Jason) Smith and their children Brock and Felicia, Cheri (Dean) Lovestone and their children Charlie and Emersen; one brother, Walter (Betty) Wessner as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Emilie and Edmund Wessner; her husband Ben on October 17, 2017; two brothers, Lovern Wessner and Harvey Wessner and her sister, Adeline Ratcliffe. Jean was born on May 7, 1931 in Morse, Saskatchewan where she was raised. She moved to Medicine Hat and worked in the cafeteria at the hospital and lived in the YWCA. In 1952, she met her husband, Ben Anderst and they married on July 2, 1954 in Medicine Hat. They started their life and family together in Medicine Hat where she was employed at Eatons and was known to many in Medicine Hat. Together they made their home and raised their family in Morse, Saskatchewan. She was a stay at home mom and was always involved in all her children’s activities, ran the house and kept her family in line. Later, they returned to Medicine Hat for their retirement years. Jean will be remembered as a kind spirit and a gentle person. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Weston Lundgren officiating. A private interment will take place prior to the service.
