It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dolores “Dodie’ Rita Ann Biko, loving wife of the late, Roy Biko. Dodie passed away peacefully at Masterpiece Southlands in Medicine Hat on Monday, September 30, 2019, at the age of 88 years, surrounded by her loving family. She was born the second daughter to, Loretta and Wilfred Dahlstrom in Medicine Hat. Dodie is survived by her children, Larry (Joy), Randal (Sherry), Luanne, Thomas (Marjie); grandchildren, Shelly, Lisa, Lee (Clara), Kerry, Kevin, Cody, Haley, Kristen (Andrew), Kyle (Tanya) and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Darlene (Ken), Sandra and brother, Bill (Elizabeth) as well as many nieces and nephews. Dodie was pre- deceased by her husband of 54 years, Roy; parents, Loretta and Wilfred; sister and best friend, Vivian; in-laws, John and Elizabeth Biko, Tillie and Nick Weinberger, Alec and Vera Biko. The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the staff at Masterpiece Southlands and to Dr. Shrives for the excellent care she received. “Mom left us as she lived, bringing loved ones closer together.” A Celebration of Dodie’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Private Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Dodie’s name can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, #220, 6223 – 2 Street S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2H 1J5.
