Ski Hill Open

Hidden Valley open for the season

Dec 15, 2019 | 3:36 PM

Elkwater, AB – Opening day at Hidden Valley Ski Resort was bustling as the regional ski hill is looking at a solid start to the season.

Mike Ractliffe, Cypress Hills Provincial Park head of visitor services, said Mother Nature has been lending a hand as the ski hill heads into the busy Christmas season.

“It looks like winter out here so this is a really good start. Lots of snow on the ground,” said Ractliffe. “The resort is very white so that is really nice and for an opening weekend, it’s basically a tester for the staff who are new and get their feet on the ground and get everyone else with their skies and boards on the ground.”

The MY96 Ski Bus is running on weekends leaving from the Medicine Hat Lodge at 8:30 a.m. and returning to there at 4:45 p.m.

The hill will open full time starting on Dec. 20 and stay open everyday until Jan. 5, 2020 except for a 3 p.m. closure on Christmas Eve and it won’t be open Christmas.

Hidden Valley will open between Wednesday and Sunday following Jan. 5.
