Information session on vaping risks tonight at library

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Alberta Health Services is hosting a discussion on the health effects of vaping and e-cigarettes among youth tonight.

A presentation titled The Dangers of E-Cigarettes will take place in the Honor Currie Room at the Medicine Hat Public Library starting at 7 p.m.

Representatives from tobacco reduction programs with AHS, along with health promotion professionals, will be in attendance, and provide advice to participants about how to talk with their children about vaping.

Health Canada says in recent months, there have been four cases of vaping related illness in Canada, along with seven probable cases. In the United States, 47 deaths and over 2,000 cases of lung illness related to vaping have been reported in 2019.
