Man charged with promoting hatred has case adjourned to November

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A Medicine Hat man charged with promoting hatred will wait longer before going to trial.

Loki Hulgaard’s case appeared in Medicine Hat Provincial Court, where a date for trial was expected to be set. However, according to Court Check, his case was adjourned to November 20.

It is anticipated a date for his trial will be set during his next appearance.

Hulgaard, 36, was arrested in August 2018 after allegedly attempting to pass money branded with anti-Semitic messages at a Medicine Hat business. Police later executed a search warrant at Hulgaard’s home, seizing numerous computers, USB drives and hate stickers. Officers also seized four firearms, including two SKS rifles which allegedly had their serial numbers filed off.

Hulgaard was charged with promoting hatred and multiple firearms related offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Hulgaard has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He has been out on $4,000 no-cash bail since the charges were laid.
