Moose Monarchs finish with 1-4 record at U.S. tournament

SPOKANE, WASH. —The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs finished with a 1-4 record at a recent tournament in Spokane.

The American Legion Baseball Team wrapped up an appearance at the Spokane Fourth of July Wood Bat Classic Tournament on Sunday. The tournament included 32 teams from the United States and Canada.

The Monarchs won their first game against the Spokane Shadle Park Highlanders 3-2 on July 5, but went winless in their next four games.

The Monarchs were defeated 11-0 by the Spokane U19 Expos and lost 8-2 to the Idaho Cubs on July 6. They wrapped up the tournament on Sunday being shut out by the St. Albert Cardinals and the Apple Valley Packers. The final scores for both games was 8-0.

The Moose Monarchs are travelling to Bozeman, Montana for a pair of conference games against the Bucks on Wednesday and Thursday.

K of C Knights

The Medicine Hat K of C Knights will wrap up conference play in Vauxhall on Wednesday, and are also hitting the road this weekend, travelling to North Dakota for the First National Classic in Williston.

The Knights play their first game on Friday night against the Williston 15’s at 7 p.m., with results determining seeding for bracket play. The Knights will also play Watford City on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The tournament concludes Sunday.
