Lacrosse teams find podium in Strathmore

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Several Medicine Hat lacrosse teams found success at the Redneck Rumble Lacrosse Tournament in Strathmore over the weekend.

Two novice teams and the midget Medicine Hat Sun Devils all won gold medals, while the peewee and bantam teams both came away with bronze.

The Novice 1 Sun Devils took gold on Sunday, winning 7-3 over the Strathmore Venom Novice, while the Novice 2 Sun Devils defeated the Blackfald Warriors 11-7 on Sunday. According to an email from the Medicine Hat Lacrosse Association, both novice teams went undefeated through the tournament.

The Midget Sun Devils dominated the Calgary Hornets 13-3 to win gold in their division. Tyler Broesky had four goals, while Callen Prosofsky and Bryson Helmle each scored twice. Evan Ertmoed and Josh Drefs each had three assists.

The peewee Sun Devils topped the Strathmore Venom in the bronze medal game 6-3 on Sunday. Ryder Farrell scored twice, while Trey Plaksey, Kristopher Jamieson, Hunter Skrove and Nathan Stehr each had singles.

The bantam Sun Devils topped Blackfalds to win bronze in their division. A score from the game was not available.
