Medicine Hat woman facing counterfeit currency, drug charges
MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat police have charged a 35-year-old woman with multiple counterfeit currency and drug offences following a brief investigation.
According to police, members of the Priority Street Crime Unit received a tip a woman was allegedly producing counterfeit U.S. currency. Following an investigation, a search warrant was executed at a Medicine Hat residence on Friday.
During the search, police seized approximately $2,200 in U.S. currency, along with a “significant amount” of stolen documents, according to a release. A small amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl was also seized, with police estimating its street value at approximately $400.
Jessica Peterson of Medicine Hat has been charged with 24 criminal offences, including possession of counterfeit currency, possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
