MEDICINE HAT, AB — While construction continues on Medicine Hats 1.6 million square foot Aurora Sun facility, plans have now been approved to add temporary trailers to the site.

On Wednesday, the City’s municipal planning commission voted to approved eight multi-purpose trailers.

According to the commission, the project will utilize one trailer to grow cannabis.

The rest of the trailers will consist of offices, a staff room, a production room and storage.

According to Councillor Brian Varga, the temporary development will allow Aurora to start training employees before the facility is operational.

“I think it’s just a temporary thing before their main building comes online,” says Varga. “They want to start teaching people and training people in their world of what cannabis is all about, how they’re going to grow it, how they’re going to dry it, how they’re going to store it.”

When it comes to the facility itself, Aurora said on Monday things are progressing along at a steady pace, but there’s no public updates to share at this time.
