High school basketball recap: Mohawks remain undefeated, Kwahommies and Colts drop close games

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat’s high school basketball teams played their final games before the holiday break on Thursday

The Medicine Hat High School Mohawks and Kwahommies, along with the Monsignor McCoy Colts, were all in action, either at home or on the road. Here is how each team fared.

Mohawks

The Mohawks senior varsity team improved to a 4-0 record, defeated the Chinook Coyotes 92-68 in Lethbridge.

Bailey Gosse led the Mohawks with 28 points, with Austin Walton also scoring 20 points. Fred Kabore finished with 14 points, Aiden Gripp notched 12 points and Reece Mulder scored 10 points through the game.

Karson Valgardson led the Coyotes with 14 points during the game.

On the junior varsity side, the Mohawks improved to a 2-2 record, defeating the Coyotes 83-70. Carter Schultz led the Mohawks with 19 points, while Jonny Van Dam and Artche Belza each had 14 points.

Kwahommies

The senior varsity Kwahommies dropped a close game to the Raymond Comets at Hat High, losing 76-73.

Jordyn Knight led the Kwahommies with 20 points, while teammate Kyla Kearley scored 17.

Four members of the Comets had double digit point totals, including Kyla Bohne (15 points), Saige Gibb (13 points), Abby Jensen (11 points) and Rees Armener (10 points).

The junior varsity Kwahommies also came home with a loss, losing 66-53 to the Comets. Mataya Francis has 18 points for the Comets.

Hannah Salmon and Tori Kaczynski each scored 8 points for the Kwahommies.

Colts

The Colts boys basketball team were narrowly defeated by the W.R. Myers Rebels 94-92 in Taber.

Ethan Smith led the Colts with 20 points, while Ethan Gripp scored 19 points for his team. No scoring information was available for the Rebels.
