Fire crews quick to extinguish RV fire

May 15, 2018 | 4:01 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Fire crews had to act quickly Tuesday afternoon, after a RV caught fire on the southeast hill.

The call came in around 1:30 p.m. near 6th Street SE at 5th Avenue.

By the time crews arrived on scene, the RV had been completely swallowed by the flames. The fire spread quickly into nearby trees and the power lines overhead.

City workers were called in to cut the power while firefighters fought the flames and were able to stop the fire from spreading to a nearby building.

“When we got the call, we could see the smoke when we turned at 1st Avenue out of Station 1, so we got here in probably three minutes and had the fire out within another four, maybe,” said Captain Warren Bridge.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
