MANCHESTER, England — Canadian international forward Janine Beckie scored on her debut for the Manchester City women’s team Sunday in a 4-0 win over Leicester City in Continental Cup play.

“Arrives in Manchester on Thursday. Scores in her City debut!” tweeted Man City.

Beckie’s goal came in the 71st minute when she tapped in Nadia Nadim’s flick-on at Academy Stadium.

“Delighted to make my debut for the club today, solid win for the girls. The stat sheet says I got my first goal but the defender helped me out on that one, coming soon though,” Beckie said via Twitter.

Beckie joined the English club earlier this month in a transfer from Sky Blue FC of the NWSL. She is wearing No. 11 for Man City.

A dual citizen, the 24-year-old Beckie was born in Colorado to parents from Saskatchewan. She has 22 goals in 43 appearances for Canada.

Man City currently tops the Continental Cup Group One North standings with five points from two games.
