Perry and Chris Deering to receive business award from MHC
MEDICINE HAT, AB — For the first time ever, Medicine Hat College will award its Business Person of the Year award to a team of business owners, rather than an individual.
Perry and Chris Deering were named as recipients of the award, which honours local business people who demonstrate business leadership and contribute to the community. The husband and wife operate Deerview Meats, a successful meat processing company in Cypress County.
According to a news release from the college, the Deerings were selected for the dedication to their industry and the local and national impact of their business. The release states the company has pioneered new standards for meat processing which have been recognized by various governing organizations, and Perry is often called to sit on provincial roundtable discussions on facility and operation standards, animal farm care programs and food safety standards. The couple also serve on volunteer boards in the region, inlcuding 4-H clubs and the college’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre.
The Deerings will receive the award during the Connecting Students to Business Dinner on March 30 at the Medicine Hat Lodge. Tickets are $60 each, and $20 for college students, and can be purchased here.
