Midget AA Hounds advance to SCAHL South Finals

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A shot at a South Playoffs title for the Medicine Hat Can Pak Environmental Midget AA Hounds on Sunday after a semi-final victory earlier in the day.

Rolling through the round-robin with a perfect 3-0 record, the Hounds were matched up with the Taber Golden Suns in SCAHL South semi-finals.

Medicine Hat got the only goal of the first period, a power play marker from Jacob Milne just over five minutes into the playoff contest.

Ethan Boutkan extended the Hounds’ lead to 2-0 a little over six minutes into the second, but that was matched by Taber’s Cole Jensen on the power play shortly after.

Leading by just one goal entering the third period, Medicine Hat netted a pair from Brett Gray and Brandon Hauck to take a 4-1 stranglehold.

Ryley Manz added a power play goal with 39 seconds remaining, giving the Hounds a 5-1 win and punching their ticket to the South final.

Medicine Hat outshot the Golden Suns 38-35, but Hounds goaltender Dawsen Savage was still kept busy with 34 saves in the win.

It will be a battle of the Hounds in the South final on Sunday night, as Medicine Hat will look to keep their season alive a book a spot in SCAHL finals against the host Lethbridge Hounds.
