CALGARY, AB – Medicine Hat Tigers top prospect Garin Bjorklund will be getting a taste of life with Hockey Canada next month.

Bjorklund is one of 111 U-17 hockey players across the country to be named to Hockey Canada’s development camp, which will be held in Calgary.

Players will be split into six teams during the camp and put through the paces for both on and off ice training, fitness testing, intrasquad games, and classroom sessions.

In the fall, 66 of the players will be named to one of Canada’s three national teams for the 2018 World U-17 Hockey Challenge in November.

Playing his first season of midget hockey with the Calgary AAA Buffaloes this past season, Bjorklund posted a 10-5-0 record in 15 games, racking up a goals against average of 1.92, and a .913 save percentage.

Drafted 21st overall by the Tigers in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft, Bjorklund is expected to compete with Kaeden Lane for the team’s backup position behind Jordan Hollett.

Bjorklund will join the other 110 Team Canada prospects in Calgary for the camp between July 21 and 27.
