A 19-year-old bull rider from Quebec is celebrating the first PBR Canada Cup Series victory of his career after riding two bulls to the eight-second mark at the PBR Medicine Hat Classic on Saturday.

Jayden Roy of Mascouche, Que., scored 171.9 points across two rides at Co-op Place to finish first at the event, presented by Art’s Excavating, earning 122 national points in the race for the 2026 PBR Canada Championship.

“I feel excited and very blessed,” Roy said.

“I got two great bulls, two to make points, so very excited and very happy.”

Roy scored 84.6 points on Cracker Jack in the opening round before delivering an event-best 87.3-point ride on Strapper in the championship round, to be the only rider to cover both bulls he faced.

The victory moved Roy from 13th to seventh in the national standings, putting him within 975.83 points of leader Nick Tetz of Calgary.

The 2026 championship comes with a $100,000 prize.

Roy said he went into the Medicine Hat event believing he could win.

“I trust God, and I trust His plan, so I was like, all right, we’re going there to win and trust God,” Roy said.

Despite competing against some of Canada’s top riders, Roy said he does not view his fellow competitors as opponents.

“I don’t really compete against these guys. I compete with these guys; we’re just doing our job,” Roy said.

“We have each one, we have a bull, we have a job to do. So me, my bull and my fun, I’m just having fun, really.”

Roy credited his faith for helping him reach the milestone, saying he had flown in from Quebec the day before the event.

“I just got one person to thank, and it’s our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ,” Roy said.

“He helped me every day, and He got me here.”

Tanner Eno of Coronation, Alta., finished second overall, earning 78 national points after scoring 86.6 points in the opening round on Bon Jovi.

He was bucked off by Huckle Berry in the championship round.

Tyler Craig of Crossfield, Alta., placed third with 54 national points after an 86.3-point ride on Toxic Masculinity in the opening round.

Medicine Hat-area rider Dakota Buttar tied for fourth with Jordan Hansen of Amisk, Alta., and Austin Paley from Beverlodge, Alta., each scoring 85.6 points in the opening round, earning 32.66 national points.

Buttar, a two-time PBR Canada champion from Eatonia, Sask., remains third in the national standings, 759.17 points behind Tetz.

Tetz finished eighth in Medicine Hat after scoring 83.4 points on Bail Money, earning 17 national points and extending his lead over second-place Gilmar Santana to 373.83 points.

Santana was bucked off in the opening round.

With two events remaining before the National Finals, Eno climbed from 18th to 13th in the standings, while Craig moved from fifth to fourth.

SweetPro Choices was named the event’s YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event after bucking off Paley in 2.11 seconds during the championship round.

Roy said Saturday’s win has him feeling confident heading into his next competition, the PBR Saskatoon Classic.

“I’m going there to win, and today was just a great day, so, yeah, I’m confident to go to Saskatoon and win,” Roy said.
