The tournament’s second year followed the success of the inaugural event in 2025, with the 2026 tournament selling out quickly.

Demand was strong enough that organizers created additional sponsorship opportunities to accommodate businesses and organizations looking to take part.

Cori Cuthbertson, administrator of the Yuill Family Foundation, said in a release that the response to the event surpassed expectations.

“We knew after the success of our first year that there was tremendous interest, but the support for the second tournament exceeded our expectations,” Cuthbertson said.

The event featured a strong hockey presence, including professional hockey scouts and members of the Medicine Hat Tigers, adding a hockey element to a fundraiser that continues to grow.

Cuthbertson said the foundation was grateful to the sponsors, golfers, donors and volunteers who contributed to the tournament’s success.

“The response to this tournament has been incredible,” Cuthbertson said.

“We are incredibly grateful to every sponsor, golfer, donor and volunteer who helped make this such a successful event.”

The foundation says the tournament has become an opportunity for local businesses and community members to come together in support of youth-focused initiatives.

“This tournament is really a reflection of what can happen when our business and community partners come together behind a good cause,” Cuthbertson said.

“The generosity was exceptional, and we are already looking ahead to next year.”

Planning for the third annual Yuill Foundation Golf Classic is already underway, with the event scheduled to return to Desert Blume Golf Course in 2027.

The foundation is also pursuing new sponsorship opportunities as it looks to expand the tournament and offer more ways for businesses and community partners to participate.
