ABmunis Convention and Trade Show begins Sept. 23 in Edmonton

This week, over 1,500 municipal elected officials, along with administrators, and provincial officials will head to Edmonton for the Alberta Municipalities Convention and Trade Show.

From Sept. 23-25, the province’s largest annual gathering of municipal leaders is set to take place at the Edmonton Convention Centre.

“The event brings together representatives from communities across Alberta to discuss common challenges, share solutions, debate resolutions, and engage directly with provincial decision-makers,” as stated in a media release by ABmunis. “This year’s Convention comes as municipalities continue to face growing pressures related to infrastructure, housing, affordability, community services, and long-term fiscal sustainability.”

The event will feature addresses by Premier Danielle Smith, Municipal Affairs Minister Dan Williams, and Official Opposition Leader Naheed Nenshi.

There will also be two Ministers’ Dialogue sessions that will give municipal leaders an opportunity to question cabinet ministers directly about issues affecting Alberta communities.
