Medicine Hat fabricator unveils cauldron one week ahead of Special Olympics Canada Summer Games
With the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games now just one week away, a piece of Medicine Hat craftsmanship that will help welcome athletes from across the country has been unveiled.
The eight-foot-tall cauldron that will be lit during the opening ceremony was designed and built by Weimer Welding and Fabrication Ltd. in consultation with Elder Charlie Fox of the Blood Tribe.
The structure is a reimagining of the iconic Saamis Tepee, using the landmark’s recognizable shape while creating a centrepiece for the opening of the 2026 games.
