SAHA’s Motz and Bourque invited to Fall Camp for Team Alberta’s U18 team

A pair of players from the South Alberta Hockey Academy will be among 28 players competing for a spot on Team Alberta’s Under-18 female squad.

Myla Motz and Riley Bourque will attend a fall selection camp in Red Deer from Sept. 24 to 28.

Players earned an invitation following Hockey Alberta’s scouting process and a summer camp held earlier this month.

The final roster will represent Alberta at the 2027 Canada Winter Games in Quebec City, where the team is scheduled to face British Columbia, New Brunswick and Quebec in the preliminary round.

Motz has played the past three seasons with SAHA’s U18 Female Prep team. Before that, she played a season with the Southern Express U15 AA Female team after coming up through the Medicine Hat Minor Hockey system.

The 17-year-old forward from Medicine Hat has 42 points in 81 career games with SAHA.

Bourque has played two seasons with SAHA’s U18 Female Prep team. Before that, she played a year of male hockey with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons U15 AA team, and affiliated for a game with the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers U15 AAA team that season.

The 16-year-old defenceman from Fort McMurray has 33 points in 60 career games with SAHA. She was third among defencemen in CSSHL goals in 2025-26 with 10, and seventh in points with 23.
