Brooks RCMP seek help after racist stickers placed throughout community

Jul 3, 2026 | 7:52 AM

Brooks RCMP are asking for the public’s help after they say racist stickers were placed on traffic signs and community mailboxes throughout the city.

Police said they received several reports on July 1 of stickers displaying racial slurs that had been affixed to signs and mailboxes in various locations.

Officers documented the incidents and are working to have the stickers removed.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are attempting to identify those responsible.

“Acts that target or intimidate members of our community based on race or ethnicity have no place in Brooks,” Cpl. McCready of the Brooks RCMP Community Policing Unit said in a statement.

“We take these incidents seriously and are committed to thoroughly investigating all reports of hate-motivated activity.”

RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has surveillance footage from June 30 or July 1 to contact Brooks RCMP at 310-RCMP.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

Police are asking members of the public who find similar stickers or other hate-related material to report them before attempting to remove them.
