A 19-year-old Medicine Hat man is facing multiple charges after police say several people, including a taxi driver, were exposed to bear spray in a targeted attack late last week.

Medicine Hat police say officers responded to a weapons complaint in the 100 block of 8th Street Southwest shortly before midnight on June 25.

When officers arrived, they found a taxi driver and several other people suffering the effects of bear spray.

Several youths and one adult were treated at the scene, while the suspect had already fled.

Police say investigators quickly identified and arrested Connor Dominaux-Monnie without incident.

He is charged with six counts of assault with a weapon, one count of mischief under $5,000, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Dominaux-Monnie was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody pending a court appearance scheduled for June 30.
