The final weekend of June is upon us with sports, tours and live music happening in Medicine Hat to keep you busy.

Environment Canada is calling for increasing cloudiness on Friday, with showers developing in the afternoon and a risk of a thunderstorm that will continue through the night. Winds will gust up to 40, with a high of 25 C. Rain is expected overnight, with rainfall amounts between 15 and 25 mm and a nighttime low of 15 C.

On Saturday, showers are expected to end in the morning, followed by a mix of sun and cloud with a 60 per cent chance of additional showers and a risk of a thunderstorm. Winds will gust up to 40 by morning, with a high of 22 C. The evening will see increasing cloudiness with a low of 14 C.

Sunday is forecast to bring showers, expected to continue into the night, with a high of 19 C during the day and a low of 14 C at night.

🪣 South Country Co-op Customer Appreciation Event

FRIDAY

South Country Co-op is celebrating its Customer Appreciation Event on Friday at the Cypress Agro Centre with a day of special promotions and giveaways.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features a “Stuff a Bucket” sale, where customers receive 15 per cent off everything that fits inside a complimentary bucket, while supplies last.

The celebration also includes free coffee and cupcakes, the launch of a Customer Appreciation Flyer and free commemorative 70th-edition cups for the first 140 customers.

⚾️ Medicine Hat Mavericks

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Mavericks host three games at Athletic Park this weekend in Western Canadian Baseball League action.

On Friday, the Swift Current 57s are in the city for a 6:45 p.m. game.

The Sylvan Lake Gulls have their only games of the season in Medicine Hat on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s game is at 6:45 p.m., Sunday’s is at 2:05 p.m.

Tickets are available through the Mavericks’ website and at the Athletic Park box office.

👞 Hidebound Leather Exhibition

FRIDAY

The Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre is hosting the opening of Hidebound on Friday evening, an event celebrating the enduring artistry and cultural significance of leather.

The evening begins at 7 p.m. with a blessing from Charlie Fox, followed by remarks from the curator and a special talk by Brenda Mercer on the importance of leather within Indigenous culture.

The exhibition brings together a selection of notable works from the Esplanade’s collection, including many pieces not previously displayed, highlighting the craft’s growing presence in contemporary handmade and DIY culture.

Guests are encouraged to arrive dressed in leather in celebration of the theme, while the bar will feature a curated scotch selection with tasting notes inspired by leather to complement the evening’s focus on craftsmanship.

🐝 Pollinator Presentation at Interpretive Centre

FRIDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is inviting residents to learn more about the region’s native pollinators during a free presentation on Friday evening at the Nature Centre in Police Point Park.

Local naturalist Lloyd Bennett will discuss the area’s most common pollinators, the plants they help sustain and the important role they play in the local ecosystem.

The presentation begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Registration is required as space is limited, and donations will be accepted.

🥕 Medicine Hat Farmers’ Market

SATURDAY

The local market is back this weekend, offering fresh, locally grown produce along with an expanded selection of seasonal goods for shoppers.

The event will also feature live entertainment from Jerry Olson, providing music throughout the morning as visitors shop and connect with friends and neighbours.

The market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with vendors set up and ready to welcome customers for a full morning of local food, produce and community atmosphere.

🏘 Historic Walking Tours: First Street SW

SATURDAY

A Historic Walking Tour of First Street SW is taking place Saturday at 10 a.m., continuing the series that follows earlier tours through the city’s historic neighbourhoods.

Once considered outside city limits and originally homestead land, First Street Southwest offers a look into some of Medicine Hat’s early development and growth.

The tour begins at 78 First St. S.W. and runs for about one hour, with a complimentary walking guide provided to participants.

The event is weather-dependent and will be rescheduled in the event of rain.

Space is limited and is booked ahead of time through tixx.ca.

🚓 Medicine Hat Police Service Auction

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Police Service is hosting its annual auction on Saturday, with in-person and online bidding available.

The auction takes place at the police station downtown, beginning at 10 a.m. with about 150 bicycles plus additional items up for bid, along with miscellaneous tools.

The event is now uploaded in sale order, and bidders are encouraged to review item conditions before participating.

A Hucky Tucky food truck will also be on site for the duration of the auction.

🏳️‍🌈 Prairie Pride Event

SATURDAY

The third annual Pride for Everyone event is taking place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kin Coulee Park in the Kinette Picnic Shelter area.

The free community celebration begins at 11 a.m. with opening remarks and Kona Ice while supplies last, followed by Indigenous drumming and dancing and a presentation from Two-Spirit knowledge keeper Warren Winnipeg at 11:30 a.m.

The schedule continues with Drag Story Time featuring Luna Sea at 12:30 p.m., along with interactive activities throughout the afternoon, including “Soak the Pride Board,” tie-dye stations, pizza while supplies last and community partner booths.

Organizers say the event will also include sensory play areas, button making, rainbow hair colour, lawn games and a selfie station, with all activities free for attendees.

🎉 Family Fun Event by Kinsmen of Medicine Hat

SATURDAY

The Kinsmen Club of Medicine Hat is hosting its fourth annual Family Fun Event Saturday at the Kin Coulee Park bandshell area, following the Kinsmen Duck Derby at 11 a.m.

The free afternoon runs from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. and features hot dogs, bouncy castles, axe throwing, balloon creations, pedal tractors and face painting.

The event will also include a special appearance by Sir E.G.G. McQuacKINs, the Duck Derby mascot, along with Duck Derby cutouts for photo opportunities.

Organizers say the event is designed as a family-friendly follow-up to one of the club’s signature summer fundraisers.

🏠 Ewart Duggan House Open Days

SATURDAY

The Ewart Duggan House is opening its doors Saturday afternoon for the final Open Days event of the season at the historic 19th-century residence near the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre in Medicine Hat.

The drop-in event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., offering visitors a chance to explore the preserved home and learn more about the people who once lived there through hands-on, heritage-inspired activities.

No registration is required, and residents are welcome to attend at any time during the afternoon.

💬 El Club de los Sábados at MHPL

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Public Library is hosting an informal Spanish conversation meetup on Saturday afternoon, offering residents a chance to practice speaking with others in a relaxed setting.

The drop-in session runs from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with refreshments provided.

Organizers note this is not a formal language class, but rather an opportunity for conversation and connection among Spanish speakers and learners in the community.

🏁 Medicine Hat Speedway: Hit To Pass

SATURDAY

Medicine Hat Speedway is set to host its first of two Hit to Pass events of the season, starting at 5 p.m. with the gates opening at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The action begins with drivers taking to the track for one of the Speedway’s most popular fan events, which blends NASCAR-style racing with demolition derby contact, for a high-energy crowd.

The event will feature five classes of race cars, from mini cup cars for the young drivers to stock cars for professionals.

Tickets are available at the gate, with kids, seniors, and families welcome.

🎤 Moranz & Fremlin Live at Liquid

SUNDAY

Moranz & Fremlin, with special guests Mandy and Doug Noel, are set to perform at the Liquid Concert and Event Venue on Sunday.

Doors open at 5 p.m. with the show starting at 6 p.m., and guests can choose a $25 ticket that includes either a hamburger or brisket burger, or attend the show only for $20.
