MHPS released the following statement on Thursday.

“It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the line‑of‑duty death of Toronto Police Service Constable Marc Pinizzotto, who was killed during a search warrant execution on June 11, 2026.

On behalf of the Medicine Hat Police Service, we extend our deepest condolences to Constable Pinizzotto’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.

This loss, coming so soon after another tragedy within our profession, is felt deeply across the policing community, and we stand in solidarity with the Toronto Police Service and all those impacted.

Incidents like this continue to serve as a solemn reminder of the risks police officers face each and every day in service of their communities.

In honour of Constable Pinizzotto, and in recognition of both line‑of‑duty deaths this week, flags remain at half‑mast until sunset on the day of Constable Pinizzotto’s funeral.”

Const. Marc Pinizzotto, 43, a Toronto Police Officer, died after being shot while conducting a search early Thursday morning in Toronto.
