A local dental clinic has doubled its support for the Brown Bag Lunch Program after staff stepped up to volunteer with the initiative.

Dr. J.P. Gallimore and the team at River Dental initially donated $5,000 to the program, which provides lunches to students across the region.

Dr. Gallimore then challenged staff to volunteer with the Brown Bag Lunch Program, pledging to match the original contribution if team members prepared lunches for local children.

Staff accepted the challenge and took the time to assemble lunches for students who rely on the program.

Following the volunteer effort, Dr. Gallimore fulfilled his commitment by matching the original donation, bringing River Dental’s total contribution to $10,000.

Program organizers say the funding will help provide nutritious meals to children throughout the community, supporting student well-being and academic success.

They also praised the clinic for combining financial support with hands-on volunteerism, noting the contribution demonstrates a commitment to community involvement beyond monetary donations.

The Brown Bag Lunch Program provides lunches to students across the region. It relies on community partnerships, volunteers and donations to help meet growing demand.
