Here is What’s On in Medicine Hat this weekend: June 5-7

The first weekend of June is upon us, and after getting lots of rain the past week, we are expected to see a little more on Sunday, according to Environment Canada.

On Friday, it is forecast to be mainly sunny with winds gusting up to 60 km/h by the afternoon, and a high of 25 C. The evening shows partly cloudy with winds gusting up to 60 km/h and a low of 7 C.

On Saturday, it’s expected to be cloudy throughout the day and into the evening with a high of 22 C and a low of 9 C.

Then on Sunday, Period of rain through the day and into the evening with a high of 17 C and a low of 6 C.

Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat.

⚾️ Medicine Hat Mavericks

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, and MONDAY

The Medicine Hat Mavericks will play four straight games at Athletic Park starting on Friday as part of a Tourism Medicine Hat partnership event featuring a downtown-inspired game-day experience.

The Mavericks host the Moose Jaw Miller Express through the weekend, followed by a rescheduled matchup on Monday against the Swift Current 57s.

Friday, Saturday and Monday games begin at 6:45 p.m., while Sunday’s game gets underway at 2:05 p.m.

The Friday contest includes the Sunshine Trolley experience, which begins at 4 p.m. at Athletic Park.

Guests will make stops at Travois Ale Works and The Silver Buckle before returning to the ballpark for the game in ground-level box seats with a beverage included.

The event highlights local food, drink and baseball in a single evening experience.

The Mavs are also at the Medicine Hat Mall centre court between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday signing autographs and doing a meet and greet.

📽 In My Own Time at the Monarch

FRIDAY

The Monarch Theatre in Medicine Hat will host a screening of In My Own Time on Friday as part of the Inter-Act Theatre Society Film Festival.

The documentary follows Canadians who chose medical assistance in dying (MAID), exploring the emotional impact of the decision on patients, families and friends.

The film also features medical and legal experts discussing access to MAID in Canada.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with the screening scheduled to begin at 7 p.m, and a question-and-answer session will follow the film.

Concessions will be available, with cash only accepted.

🏁 Medicine Hat Speedway and Drag Races

FRIDAY

Races for all classes will be held at the Medicine Hat Speedway this weekend, alongside a full slate of drag racing events.

At the Speedway, racing gets underway at 5 p.m. on Saturday, with gates opening at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association returns to the strip for two events starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, featuring a drag racing meet, with action running for about three hours as drivers take to the track.

Saturday’s program includes a show-and-shine and a burnout competition, rounding out a full day of motorsport activities.

All weekend events are open to the public.

🐎 Newell Pro Rodeo in Brooks

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

The Newell Pro Rodeo will bring two nights of competition to Brooks as some of the top rodeo athletes in North America and abroad head to the Silver Sage Corral.

The event, sanctioned by the PRCA and WPRA, features a full slate of rodeo action, including bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc, bareback, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, breakaway roping and team roping.

Performances begin each evening at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The weekend also includes a parade through Brooks at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a youth rodeo at 10 a.m. and a lineup of family activities throughout the day.

Live music and DJs will cap off both nights at 9 p.m.

The Newell Pro Rodeo takes place at the Silver Sage Corral, with gates opening ahead of the evening performances.

🏍 Swap Meet at Badlands Harley-Davidson

SATURDAY

Badlands Harley-Davidson is hosting a swap meet on Saturday in support of the Ridin’ for Kids Foundation.

Organizers say proceeds from table rentals and a barbecue will go directly toward this year’s fundraiser for four-year-old Emerson Wikkerink of Bow Island, who is living with KIF1A syndrome.

The event runs throughout the day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Badlands Harley-Davidson dealership east of Medicine Hat and is open to the public.

🌮 Taco Fest at Medalta

SATURDAY

Medalta in Medicine Hat will host Taco Fest Medicine Hat 2026 on Saturday, bringing a full day of food, culture and entertainment to the city for the first time.

The festival runs from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will feature Latin food vendors, tacos, food trucks, live music, DJs, mariachi performers, games, and family activities, including piñata breaking for kids.

A licensed margarita bar will also be on site, with an after-party starting at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for the full day, with free admission for children under the age of 10, and are available through eventbrite.ca

🐂 4-H Show and Sale in Medicine Hat

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat 4-H Club will hold its annual Show and Sale this Saturday at the Cypress Centre, featuring livestock raised by local youth.

Lambs, hogs and cattle will be on display starting at 9 a.m., with judging taking place throughout the morning.

The event showcases months of work by 4-H members preparing their animals for competition.

The sale follows at 3 p.m., giving buyers a chance to purchase locally raised livestock and support the 4-H club.

🥍️ Badlands Sun Devils Lacrosse

SATURDAY

The Badlands Sun Devils Jr. B Lacrosse team is set to host the Calgary Wranglers for a Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League game on Saturday.

The Wranglers took the win against the Sun Devils 14-6 in their last match-up.

Start time is at 5:30 p.m. at the Kinplex Arena.

Admission is free for the game, and there will be a 50/50 during the contest.

🎸 The Story of Creedence Clearwater Revival at the Esplanade

SATURDAY

The Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre in Medicine Hat will host a live tribute to one of rock’s most influential bands on Saturday with The Story of Creedence Clearwater Revival at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The production explores the rise of Creedence Clearwater Revival in the late 1960s and early 1970s, combining live music, storytelling and multimedia to revisit the band’s chart-topping era and lasting cultural impact.

Featuring vocalist El Niven alongside an award-winning band, the show includes classic hits such as Fortunate Son and Have You Ever Seen the Rain.

The performance runs through the band’s music and history, offering a concert-style experience that highlights both the sound and the story.

🌭 Food Truck and Market Frenzy

SUNDAY

Kin Coulee Park in Medicine Hat will host the Foodies Picnic Haven from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The family-friendly event will feature face painting, live music, market vendors, food trucks, a llama visit, a paintball trailer and a sensory bus, with some activities weather dependent.

Food trucks on site will include Fryer Tucks, Pooty’s Poutine, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade, Tully’s Mini Donuts, Millie’s Sodas and Sweets, Hucky Tucky, El Super Taco, Kin Folk, and How Do You Roll Ice Cream.
