Liverpool hires Andoni Iraola to mark return to Klopp-style playing approach after Slot departure
Liverpool has hired Andoni Iraola as head coach, less than a week after firing Arne Slot.
The 43-year-old Iraola, who left Bournemouth at the end of the season after three seasons in charge, has signed deal with Liverpool, the club said Thursday.
“We can confirm Andoni Iraola has agreed a deal to become the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season,” Liverpool said in a social media message.
Iraola’s intense and heavy-pressing playing approach resembles the ideology that brought the team so much success under former Anfield favorite Jurgen Klopp.
