Rainfall totals from weekend deluge across Alberta

A lot of rain has fallen across the last three days in Alberta.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a weather summary on Tuesday, with rainfall totals up to 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Per ECCC:

“A long-duration heavy rainfall event affected much of southern and central Alberta beginning on Saturday, May 30, lasting into Tuesday, June 2.

“At higher elevations between Banff and Kananaskis, primarily above 2,000 metres, 10 to 15 cm of heavy wet snow accumulated.   

“This rainfall event brought widespread impacts, including overland flooding, closure of public amenities, sewer backups, and a noted swelling of rivers and streams across the province.

“No significant river flooding was reported by the Alberta River Forecast Centre.”
