City of Medicine Hat outlines the requirements and bylaws for safe drone operations
The City of Medicine Hat is reminding residents and visitors to follow federal regulations and local bylaws as drone use continues to grow in the community.
In a public information release, the city highlighted key rules governing drone operations, noting Medicine Hat has earned a reputation as “Canada’s Drone City” and is home to both recreational and commercial drone users.
The city said drone operators must comply with regulations set by Transport Canada, as well as local bylaws aimed at protecting public safety and ensuring shared outdoor spaces can be enjoyed by all users.
Among the basic rules, drones cannot be flown higher than 400 feet above ground level without special authorization, and must remain within the operator’s visual line of sight.
